work in progress

here's a list of the things i've read, watched, listened to, played, and so on.

the first sixteen years or so of this list have been filled in retrospectively. as such a lot of the books might be a year out, and a lot don't appear at all. then again, i'm sure it mostly doesn't matter, it's mostly generic children's fiction. the category most likely to be hit by inaccurate dates are the films - most of the time i can remember whether i watched one before the other, or other such events to help me place it, but i can't be sure and some of them were simply shoved into a year without much concern at all. consider this an approximate chronology, but not definitive.

not a quote: capitalism embraces the past prejudices against women alongside the advances in technology to have more underpaid workers and a fragile but prevalent excuse for doing so.

it is better to pay people than to enslave them. but at least with slave labour there is no illusion, no VeilOfEquality: it is clear that the slaves are considered lesser than their owners. workers on the other hand are getting paid so can be dismissed more easily. this argument falls down as slaves were dismissed very easily.
